FAQs

Weekly therapy is helpful for steady, ongoing support. Intensives allow for: 1) more momentum and continuity, 2) a deeper focus without stopping and restarting each week, and 3) faster access to underlying patterns and root causes. Intensives are designed to help you make deeper progress in a shorter amount of time. Many clients choose to do both.

Why do a therapy intensive instead of typical therapy?

1

This answer is dependent on you and your readiness to tackle the issue making you consider a therapy intensive. It is important to think about your ability to maintain engaged in an extended session mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Do I need to have worked on the issue(s) in therapy before I do an intensive?

2

Is it overwhelming to do so much therapy at once?

3

Intensives are designed to be deep but not overwhelming. We will move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you, with regular breaks and grounding techniques built in.

Intensives are private pay only. Payment plans are an option, and I am happy to discuss how to make a therapy intensive work for you financially if you feel it is a good fit for you.

What should I expect after the intensive?

5

After an intensive, it’s common to feel relief or clarity, experience an emotional release, and feel some fatigue as your system processes the work. Every intensive includes a follow up session to check in, address questions, and provide any additional recommendations for integration. Some clients feel that one intensive session was enough to make the shifts they were looking for. Other clients feel it is helpful to continue with additional follow up sessions, or participate in multiple intensives. It is unique to you.

How do I prepare for my intensive?

6

Before your session, you will need to complete the intake forms and questionnaires, clarify your goals and intentions, arrange a quiet, private and uninterrupted space, and plan for rest and integration time afterward

Therapy Intensives are not for everyone. Intensives are exactly that: intense. There needs to be a willingness to sit with the discomfort, explore difficult content, and maintain for an extended period of time.

Intensives are not meant for active crisis situations. Intensives require you to feel stable for extended emotional processing. Therapy intensives are not suitable for those experiencing an active suicidal crisis, active substance dependence, unmanaged psychosis, severe dissociation without stabilization, or medical or psychiatric instability.
